How FireCodes AI Helps on Real Projects

Time saved, easier code research, and faster turnaround — hear from professionals who use FireCodes AI on active projects.

Fire Sprinkler Designer · Florida

I just wrapped a mixed-use project in Florida with a podium, parking below, and residential above. FireCodes AI was a lifesaver for working through NFPA 13 occupancy hazard classifications and finding the exact sections regarding when I could justify a single system versus separate risers. What used to be an hour of flipping between NFPA 13 and the FBC turned into a few minutes. It’s cut my code research time by 40% on a typical job and even more on more complicated ones.

FireCodes AI helped on a recent project defining occupancy boundaries within a facility. I used it to classify spaces and determine allowances within the given parameters. It’s saved me 30% or more on time with code research and responding to customer code questions.

FireCodes AI pulled the code in a very defined way with extensive details. It was very promising.

Chat + References

Why the Dual Format Builds Confidence

The Chat tab delivers AI-powered summaries. The References tab shows the exact, unaltered code text. Together, they create a workflow professionals trust.

P

Peter

Senior Designer · Mill Brook Fire Protection

I like to search in Chat first, then go to References to copy the text verbatim onto my plans instead of manually transcribing it from the physical code book. It saves time, is more accurate, and streamlines AHJ reviews, minimizing their questions and avoiding them pulling out the dreaded code book of their own. I find security knowing I’m deriving information directly from the code books, compared to Google searches that bring up forum threads and articles.

Fire Sprinkler Designer · Florida

The References tab is the best part. The AI summary is great for getting oriented quickly, but I’m not putting anything on a stamped drawing based on a summary. Being able to pull the actual code language directly and drop it onto my plans or into an RFI response has been huge. AHJs down here read the code carefully, and showing them the exact section is needed.

N

Nathan

Fire Protection Engineer

I really appreciate the formatting of the responses and the way it cites the references where it got the information. I have a really hard time getting other AI to properly cite references. Having the References tab up is super useful so I can see exactly where it’s pulling conclusions from.

vs. Previous Methods

Replacing Code Books, PDFs, and Manual Search

How FireCodes AI compares to the old way of doing things — from flipping through physical codes to searching unwieldy PDF documents.

G

Giovan, PE

Fire Protection Engineer · USACE Far East District

It’s an upgrade from how I used to search through code like a caveman, tab after tab, going back and forth between the search bar on a PDF reader or webpage, hoping I entered the right keyword. I don’t think I can go back to that after using FireCodes AI.

M

Mike

Fire Sprinkler Designer · Florida

Before this I had PDFs open on two monitors and bookmarks I could never find. I’d waste time trying to remember whether something was in 13, 13R, or 14. Now I just ask. Google was useless, half the time you end up on a forum thread from 2014 citing an outdated edition or some bogus AI answer.

N

Nathan

Fire Protection Engineer

More precise responses than the same questions asked to Copilot, our company’s current AI assistant. It’s not afraid to tell me when my assumptions are wrong. GPT, Gemini, and Copilot are all very ‘make the user feel good about themselves’ and sometimes provide incorrect information.

Recommendations

Would They Recommend It?

Fire protection professionals share whether they'd recommend FireCodes AI to peers, teams, and departments.

G

Giovan Ruiz, PE

Fire Protection Engineer · USACE Far East District

I would, and I do, whenever I talk fire protection with colleagues. I personally really enjoy this software and would love to see it expanded on.

M

Mike

Fire Sprinkler Designer · Florida

Absolutely. I’ve already pointed a couple of designers in my network toward it. For sprinkler guys especially.

P

Peter Guido

Senior Designer · Mill Brook Fire Protection

Yes, from new designers to veteran designers. The uses I’ve described can be beneficial to all of them.

What Engineers Are Saying

A cross-section of feedback from fire protection professionals using FireCodes AI day to day.

References are accurate. Huge upgrade from other platforms I’ve used for code support. Summary of code findings and references provided separately is a nice feature.

K

Kyle

Fire Protection Engineering · Design Alaska Inc.

It’s like the NFPA 13 handbook except digital. Better than any other AI I’ve tried.

B

Blake

Fire Protection Design · BR+A Consulting Engineers

I am really enjoying FireCodes AI. I think this AI is really well done.

K

Kacey

Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer · Cosentini

Definitely saves me time. People call me on the phone and I want a quick reference to the code, it’s been really useful for that.

R

Ricardo

Fire Protection Engineer · Cosentini Associates

The breakdowns it gives are helpful and well organized, and the references section is greatly appreciated so I can double-check what it finds for myself.

M

Mark

Fire Protection Engineer · Performance Design Technologies

The References tab is helping me trust it more. It’s a great tool for research.

J

Justin

Fire Protection Engineer · Coffman Engineers

I’ve used FireCodes AI a few times and it’s great so far. I appreciate the references to the standard, it helps me double-check it’s giving the right answers.

J

James

Fire Protection Designer · JFP Design

It used exact code terminology in its answer like ‘tread and risers,’ which was nice. It’s a helpful resource.
